Coach Catalyst has made it easy to share documents with clients. In Resources, there are two places to share documents with clients - inside the Vault > Personal Resources or under Resources in a Folder on the left toolbar.
Vault > Personal Resources
The Vault is a tab inside a client's account. Inside the vault, you can see Notes, Goals, Resource Folders the client is assigned to, and Personal Resources.
Personal Resources are exactly that, resources assigned to the person's account that you are currently in. These resources can only be PDFs. These will be loaded from the computer, not from a link. Click on add to get the pop-up to add the PDF.
Title the document, attach the file and click Save.
Then make sure the client has access to the file and click the eye to toggle visibility.
Resources> Folders
Folders are great for sharing more than PDFs with clients. You can create folders to share with groups or make a folder for individual clients. Resource folders can have images, Gifs, PDFs, videos, and external links inside the folder.
Folders give you the ability to auto-assign the folder to every new client or you can assign clients to specific folders
Since Resource Folders allow you to add a variety of file types to share with clients, it has become the go-to for many coaches over using the personal resources found in the fault.
Best Practice
In this case, there isn't truly a best practice. Use the flow that works before for you and your business.
Here is my best case scenario:
Personal Resources: The only PDF my client will find here is going to be their personalized nutrition recommendation form. This is a resource that I have used for years that always share with clients.
Resource Folders: I have a few resource folders that I auto-assign one is Nutrition Basics. This folder will have the basics that I cover no matter the type of client they are.
Then all of my 1:1 clients get a folder with their names on it. This is where I put everything that I share with them so they can find it easily. I usually also send these items in a message as well and remind them they can find it again in their named resource folder.
